SWMCOL has embarked on a #1000 Trees initiative that is strategically aligned to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 3, 11, and 15. The tree planting and distribution exercise is taking place at the Forres Park, Guanapo and Beetham landfills with saplings also being provided to SWMCOL’s employees to enhance their communities.
In commemoration of World Rainforest Day on June 22nd 2021, SWMCOL planted Poui, Olivier, and Jamoon saplings at the Guanapo and Forres Park landfills. When grown, these trees will provide an additional protective barrier along the landfills’ fenceline, while improving aesthetics and creating habitats for the return of wildlife.
Present at the event were Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, and SWMCOL’s Chairman, Ronald Milford.
“Get into Green” is more than a call to action. It is both a precept and a promise.
The promise is that of a greener tomorrow for the benefit of all when we “Get into Green”.
