Educational Fun

ECO-GAME

Launched in 2016, SWMCOL’s Island Eco-Trip Board Game makes lessons about caring for the environment a fun experience for kids of all ages.

Players start at four corners on the gameboard that represent a different recyclable: glass, plastic, aluminium, and paper. The object of the game is for each player to make one circuit of the board and be the first to arrive at the recycling depot for their type. A single die is cast to determine the number of tiles to move along but there are pitfalls and rewards along the way.

Both the pitfalls and rewards teach important eco-lessons such as: remember to take a garbage bag to the beach or switch off the television when not in use.  There are twelve practical lessons shared via the game that players can easily put into practice at home, school, or office.  These lessons also reinforce what is taught during the CYOP forums at schools.

ACTIVITY BOOK

SWMCOL’s Folio & Friends’ Eco-Activity and Colouring Book helps to reinforce lessons about waste reduction, reuse, and recycling.  It introduces a team of cartoon eco-heroes called Folio & Friends who counteract the actions of Litterbug Charlie and his mischief making Binions. Geared towards children aged 5 to 12, the book is distributed as part of SWMCOL’s outreach programme in primary schools.
